Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra) said it has completed four-laning of 90 km from Trichy to Dindigul, in Tamilnadu.
Toll collection will begin from midnight of January 11 for the build, operate and transfer project, constructed at a cost Rs600 crore.
The National Highways Authority of India's ( NHAI) contract to RInfra entails a concession period of 30 years. Further RInfra will maintain the existing 4-lane road.
To reduce stopover time at the toll plaza, an advanced toll management services has been installed to automate tolling which provides CCTVs, speed detectors and other services to monitor traffic flow on the road.
Ten underpasses and 15 bridges have been constructed on the stretch by the concessionaire. RInfra will provide medical, first aid, vehicle rescue post and patrolling services, stationed at the toll plazas, besides restrooms along the corridor, said Mr. Lalit Jalan, Chief Executive Officer of RInfra.
Analysts value Rinfra’s 11 roads portfolio at Rs12,000 crore. With this, 10 of its projects are operational and expected to generate over Rs1,000 crore. RInfra expects a rise 10-12% growth in traffic year-on-year in its road assets.
A senior Rinfra official said the company chose projects in high density traffic corridors to ensure a 20% return on investment. Further, the focus was to bid for stretches that connect metros with at least three to four satellite cities.
RInfra's has six road projects in the Tamilnadu, such as Nammakal-Karur, Dindigul-Samyanallore, Trichy-Karur, Trichy-Dindigul, Salem-Ulundurpet and Hosur-Krishnagiri.
