Alstom T&D India (formerly Areva T&D India) said it had bagged a contract for Rs64.80 crore from Power Grid Corporation of India for supply of 64 nos. of 765kV circuit breakers (CBs).
These CBs are meant for various 765kV sub-stations located at Dharamjaygarh, Jabalpur, Bhiwani, Satna (Extension), Gwalior (Extension) and Rajgarh Pooling (near Kotra).
A leader in the field of extra and ultra high voltage CBs, Alstom Grid is the first manufacturer to localize circuit breakers up to 765kV and beyond with spring operating mechanism. Alstom Grid is leading global supplier of CBs in the range of 72.5kV to 800kV with a strong market share.
Managing Director, Rathin Basu said, 'We are privileged to work together with Power Grid to develop extra and ultra high voltage transmission networks in India. In 2009, we successfully commissioned India's first extra high voltage (EHV) 765kV circuit breaker for NTPC Sipat. Alstom T&D India made significant investments from 2007 to 2009 to build state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities at Padapai, Tamil Nadu, with capacity to produce EHV 765kV and ultra high voltage (UHV) 1200kV switchgear products. With this bulk order, we maintain our leadership in the transmission sector with supply of 765kV circuit breaker for 23 out of 40 substations.'
