Shares of Saint-Gobain Sekurit India hits 5% upper circuit and touched the 52-week high at Rs58.50, on reports the company's foreign parent is expected to announce an offer soon to delist the firm from the BSE.
According to report, the parent is expected to announce the delisting plan of its Indian subsidiary - Saint Gobain Sekurit India - in the next few weeks. A letter seeking in-principle approval from the Bombay Stock Exchange ( BSE) to delist the shares has been sent on Monday, (April 16, 2012), added report.
Report added that Saint Gobain Sekurit secured shareholders' approval for delisting in July 2011, but the parent did not go ahead as they felt the share valuations then were high. The one-year window available to delist the shares is valid till June 2012. If the acquirer is unable to delist the shares before that, it has to seek fresh approval from shareholders.
Promoters Saint Gobain Glass India and Saint Sekurit Gobain SA France together held 85.77% of the company as on December 31, 2011. Market regulations stipulate India's listed companies should have a minimum 25% public shareholding.
