Biocon: Abbott announces collaboration with Syngene to open nutrition R&D center in India
The collaborative R&D is aimed to develop nutrition products for maternal and child nutrition and diabates care. These products will form part of Abbott's nutrition products portfolio.
Syngene's (Biocon's subsidiary) research team will work in association with Abbott's R&D team at Abbott Nutrition Center which will be located at Biocon Park in Banglore. The center is expcted to open in June 2012.
Although, financial details and other terms of collaboration are not disclosed, the arrangemnt seems to be based on some milestone payments and licensing fees to be charged for product developed by the center. We do not expect significant upside from this collaboration in short to to medium term.
