A major fire broke out at the Mahindra and Mahindra's (M&M) Nashik plant in Satpur early morning today.
The fire broke out in the Scorpio unit of the company. It was brought under control with the help of 25 fire tenders of the Nashik Municipal Corporation as well as the company's own fire-fighting unit. Nobody was injured in the incident.
M&M spokesperson in a statement said, 'The fire was contained to within the logistics area of Scorpio unit and within the plant premises. Importantly, there have been no injuries to any company personnel. As a safety measure though, the operations in the plant have been suspended for only the first shift of the day.'
M&M manufactures 300-350 vehicles a day at its Nashik plant and produces vehicles such as the Bolero, Scorpio, Xylo and Verito. ET learns while the first shift is suspended, the efforts are on to see, if the production can begin in the second shift of the day which starts around 3 pm.
The company said, it follows the strictest safety protocols and adhere to all safety norms and processes laid down by the relevant Government Authorities and it is currently examining the cause and the extent of damage at the premises.
