Tata Motors: JLR April 2012 volumes disappointing
Overall volumes of 25143 against street expectations of over 30,000 units are disappointing.
April 2012 volumes grew by 29.3% YoY but is not comparable as April 2011 does not include the effect of best seller ‘Evoque’.
Adjusting for 8000 units monthly run-rate of ‘Evoque’ in April 2012 volumes; JLR would have declined by 11% YoY in April 2012.
Both Jaguar and Land Rover volumes touched the lowest mark since Sept 2011 though on comparison with April 2011; Land Rover grew by 31% YoY and Jaguar grew by 17% YoY.
JLR US sales in April 2012 remained lackluster and grew by just 3.2% YoY. This would have weighed on the overall numbers.
