Tyre makers jumped by 1.31% to 4.11% on BSE after price of rubber declined sharply in the international market.
AT 2.23 pm JK Tyre & Industries (up 4.11%), CEAT (up 3.42%), Apollo Tyres (up 1.63%), MRF (up 1.39%) and Falcon Tyres (up 1.31%).
Rubber declined amid concern that Europe's debt crisis may be worsening, sapping demand for the key commodity used in making tyres.
The November-delivery contract dropped to as low as 265.5 yen a kilogram ($3,339 a metric ton) before trading at 267.2 yen on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange. The most-active contract has lost 15% this month, the largest drop since September 2011. It pared this year's advance to 1.4%.
