Shares of cement makers surged, on reports that companies have announced a price hike of Rs7-10 per bag of 50 kg w.e.f March 17, 2012, after the finance minister announced hike in excise duty.
The Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee in the Union Budget 2012-13 on Friday, proposed to raise excise duty to 12% from 10% earlier.
