Rail infra stocks advanced ahead of the announcement of Railway Budget later today (March 14, 2012). These stocks outperformed the broader markets on hopes of greater fund allocation to infrastructure projects.

The rail minister might announce a marginal hike in wagon acquisition this year. Wagon acquisition for the next fiscal is likely at 20,000 wagons against 18,000 wagons last year.
Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi is likely to spell out a blue print for upgrading signalling and telecommunication system to prevent accidents in the upcoming Rail Budget despite financial constraints.
