Videocon Industries said its wholly-owned subsidiary Videocon Hydrocarbon Holdings announced that Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, the operator of the exploration block in Rovuma Basin, Area I, offshore Mozambique, had just announced the first drillstem test results.
The company said the Barquentine-2 well flowed at an equipment constrained rate of around 90 to 100 million cubic fee per day (MMcf/d), with minimal pressure draw-down, providing confidence in well designs that are capable of 100 to 200 MMcf/d. The Barquentine-2 well is located in water depths of around 5,400 feet (1,650 meters) in the Offshore Area 1 of the Rovuma Basin.
The operator also informed that this flow test confirmed the reservoir connectivity and continuity over a distance of more than 3 kilometers by using pre-set gauges in an offset well. The test also proves the development plans and is an important component in the reserve certification process as the partnership focuses on achieving final investment decision (FID) around the end of 2013.
The drillstem test was conducted by the Deep-water Millennium drillship, which is expected to be mobilized to the Barquentine-1 location for a second flow and interference test in the complex. The 2012 testing program also includes drillstem tests in the Lagosta and Camarao areas to the south of Barquentine.
The consortium members in the block are Anadarko Mozambique Area I Limitada (36.5%), Mitsui E&P Mozambique Area 1 Ltd. (20%), BRPL Ventures Mozambique B.V. (10%), Videocon Mozambique Rovuma 1 Ltd., an overseas subsidiary of Videocon Hydrocarbon Holding Ltd. (10%) and Cove Energy Mozambique Rovuma Offshore Ltd. (8.5%). The balance 15% is with Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos E.P., the national oil company of Mozambique, who are carried through the exploration phase
