Jindal Steel begins 3rd unit at Raigarh, in Chhattisgarh/news09012012

Jindal Steel and Power (JSPL) has commissioned its third unit of 135 mega watt (MW) at Dongamahua, Raigarh, in Chhattisgarh, which has increased its total power generation capacity to 917MW. JSPL is setting up a total of 10 units of 135MW each, of which six are at Angul in Orissa and four at Raigarh in Chhattisgarh, the company said in a note to the BSE.
With the commissioning of third unit in Raigarh on January 1, a total of four units have started commercial operations. In October 2011, JSPL had said it would commission seven units of 135MW by the end of the current financial year.
The power business accounts for 30% of JSPL's revenues, while the steel business accounts for the rest. JSPL reported a consolidated net profit of Rs395.79 crore on revenues of Rs3,338 crore for the September quarter.
