Shares of JSW Steel rose over 2% and touched the day's high of Rs614, after the company said its crude steel production grew 35% to 7.15 lakh tons in April 2012 over April 2011.

The company said production of flat rolled products rose 34% to 5.25 lakh tons and production of long rolled products increased 35% to 1.55 lakh tons in April 2012 over April 2011.
The firm said that the capacity utilisation at Vijaynagar works remained at around 80% in April 2012 due to inferior quality and inadequate availability of iron ore in E-auction.
