A delegation of the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik, led by former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi, demanded a probe into the alleged irregularity in allotment of work to the BHEL by the Jharkhand State Electricity Board ( JSEB) on the allegation that the JSEB allotted the renovation and maintenance work of
Sikidri Hydel Power Project to the BHEL at an exponential rate and also violated guidelines of the Central Vigilance Commission ( CVC).
Marandi said recently the JSEB awarded the maintenance work of the hydel power plant to BHEL 10 times the estimate prepared by engineers of the board; and claimed to have documentary evidence that the JSEB engineers had prepared project report according to which the total cost of renovation for both the units would have been around Rs2.6 crore.
The JSEB management turned down the project report and gave the work to the BHEL which would cost the state exchequer around Rs24 crore.
The governor accepted their memorandum and is likely to begin investigation into the matter in due course.
